Upgrading from Server 2012 and R2

Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 reached end of support on October 10, 2023. Schools continuing to operate unsupported server versions risk security vulnerabilities that receive no patches, compliance violations, and unsupported configurations. Upgrading to current server versions remains essential for schools that maintain on-premises infrastructure.

Migration from legacy server versions need not be disruptive when properly planned. Modern servers offer improved performance, enhanced security, and better compatibility with contemporary applications and hardware. Many schools use server upgrades as opportunities to rationalize infrastructure and potentially transition to cloud-based systems for portions of their workloads.

SchoolCare advises schools on server upgrade strategies and manages migrations to minimize disruption.
